Masculine Checkout Syndrome
Great article, so I’m posting it. . . It reveals the urgent epidemic of MCS. . . ‘masculine checkout syndrome.’
In a great session with my therapist this week … We discussed how evolved/loving/conscious beings have got to get comfortable and accepting of people deciding to leave us.
You see when you show up as REAL, honest, authentic, transparent, vulnerable, loving, compassionate … And others around you aren’t necessarily capable of of consistently living consciously and honourably …. They will leave you. Because it makes them feel inferior, unable to keep up, that they don’t deserve us.
🙁
Of course that’s their own negative programming. But we can’t tweak their thoughts or beliefs or actions; it’s up to them what they think about themselves and how much love they’re willing to receive.
So my challenge for you today is …
Practice loving those who leave you.
Practice non-reactive acceptance. Let them go with love and sparkles and rose petals.
Then … If/when they’re ready to come back … You won’t have blown up at them with anger and resentment for their temporary inability to love themselves and therefore you. Cultivate your own sense of completeness and wholeness even when others decide to stray. Stay with your own pain, trigger, and wound when someone ‘hurts’ you.
(Ok I confess; it’s taken me 10+ years of dating disasters to have mastered this. Even now, running into an ex with their new partner still triggers me. ‘I loved you! I’ve never stopped loving you! But you left me?! Wtf?!’
Yes that’s how I reacted last time. No one’s perfect 😉
But as soon as you can get back to accepting reality as it is, and trusting that the universe knows what it’s doing … And staying with your own pain and doing your own healing … It gets easier to let people go where they may.
Stay in your loving resplendent light. Keep your heart open like a luxury hotel. Let them know the door is always open for them when they’re ready to return to their heart and be kind.
